Letters from Mrs. Radner's 4th Grade Class at Hillel Day School in Michigan!

I received some mail! Thanks to Mrs. Radner's 4th Graders at Hillel Day School for the letters! They arrived on January 25. I got them yesterday when I checked my mail (January 29).

The letters from Mrs. Radner's 4th Grade made it to McMurdo, Antarctica! Thanks for the mail! That's the Polar Star docked behind me. It is an icebreaker that is operated by the U. S. Coast Guard.

Dear Dr. Sokol:
We are so glad our letters arrived before you left Antarctica! We have never mailed a letter to Antarctica before, and the post office clerk told us that she never mailed a letter to Antarctica either! We mailed the letters on January 15, 2014 and it took 10 days to get to Antarctica! Interesting, it took only $1.32 to mail the letters all the way to Antarctica! Believe it or not, the temperature in Antarctica is 19 degrees Farenheit today and in Detroit, the temperature is 12 degrees, so the temperature in Antarctica is WARMER than the temperature in Detroit! Amazing!! It was fun blogging while you were in Antarctica! Have a safe trip back! Mrs. Radner's Fourth Grade Class

Wow, that's pretty amazing that it was colder in Michigan than in Antarctica! Thanks again for the mail! I will do my best to answer all of the questions. Keep an eye out on the blog over the coming weeks. I have lots of questions to respond to.
